Why tipping culture in the U.S. went down to 17%?

After the pandemic average tip went crazy high up to 60%

Since inflation all over the world is so high the tip went down to 17%. In addition, technology puts pressure on people since we now have specific amounts on a tablet post in a cashier post.

What does giving a tip mean? If you give a tip to someone such as a waiter in a restaurant, you give them some money to thank them for their services.
